How to Install Remove Paywall Chrome Extension

This page is dedicated to helping you install the Remove Paywall Chrome Extension. The steps are easy to follow and should at most take 5 minutes for you to set up. Feel free to watch the demo above or follow the steps below.

Steps to Install the Chrome Extension

First and foremost, you will need to purchase the Remove Paywall Chrome Extension. The extension can be found on this page and is a one-time purchase of $80. Once, you have completed the purchase please follow these steps:

  1. Once you complete the purchase, you will have access to download the RemovePaywall.zip file. This will contain the contents of the Chrome Extension.
  2. Next you will want to open chrome and go to the manage extensions page. You can do this by clicking the puzzle icon then clicking manage extensions or by typing chrome://extensions into the search bar.
  3. Then in the top right corner of the page you will see a button titled Developer Mode. Make sure that developer mode is enabled. The selector should be blue.
  4. Unzip the file that you download. On some computers, the file might automatically unzip itself. But if not you can double-click the .zip file to unzip it. Once you unzip it you should see a folder titled: Remove_Paywall_Extension.
  5. In the manage extensions page on chrome with developer mode enabled you should see a "Load unpacked" button on the top left of the page. Click the button and find where the folder titled Remove_Paywall_Extension is located. Click on the folder and hit select. Another method is, on the manage extensions page simply drag and drop the Remove_Paywall_Extension folder onto the page.
  6. This will load the extension and now you can go to any new website and the paywall should be automatically removed.

Now the extension should be installed and automatically run on any new website that you choose to visit. Likewise, if the paywall is not automatically removed, you can simply open the archive of the website by clicking on the three buttons under the “Open tab in” section. The archive of the website should give you the article without a paywall and is a great alternative if the paywall is not automatically removed.

Endpoint

Lastly, the chrome extension also offers some additional features such as clear cookies. This option can help to remove the paywall and also works as a way to prevent websites from tracking your activity. Likewise, if you want to disable the extension for a specific website, simply turn off the extension while using the website. This will save the change and the extension will always be disabled for that website until you decide to turn it back on. With all that said, I hope you enjoy the extension and if you need any additional help feel free to reach out to me at removepaywall.contact@gmail.com.
